Associate Degree in Nursing

RETS College is pleased to announce the introduction of our new Associate Degree in Nursing program for qualified Licensed Practical Nurses.

In just over a year, RETS College will prepare individuals who currently meet the Ohio requirements as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to become a Registered Nurse (RN). This program expands the skills of an LPN in preparation for the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a Registered Nurse.

Since 1953, RETS has prepared qualified individuals to meet a variety of employment demands in the Southwestern Ohio Region. The spectrum of healthcare providers will grow faster than any other industry over the next 10 years with the expected increase in our aging population. RNs account for nearly 2.2 million of the current healthcare professionals today!

The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

Overview

The Associate Degree in Nursing (RN) program is a professional education program.

The program contains 60 semester credit hours of training, and the full-time day session takes four (4) semesters (sixty - 60 weeks) to complete, excluding breaks between terms and the Christmas holiday. Additional hours may be transferred (awarded) after completion of NUR 240: Transition to ADN course.

The graduate will receive an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) to become a Registered Nurse (RN) to work as a registered nurse in Ohio. The school sponsors a graduation ceremony when each class completes its program. Graduates are presented with their degrees and school pins and are officially recognized for their achievements at that time.

Careers

Projections from the Bureau of Labor Statistics through 2006 show that positions for Nurses will experience faster than average employment growth, with job opportunities increasing by 21 percent in nursing, versus 14 percent for all occupations. Government projections indicate that demand for Nurses will outstrip supply by 2010, and, by 2015, it is anticipated that 114,000 full-time equivalent Nursing positions will be unfilled nationally.
